GameStop Gets Lift from Mobile Phones

GameStop (GME) stock toppled on Friday, a day after the computer game merchant provided better-than-expected fiscal-first-quarter incomes but disappointed financiers with its current-quarter assistance.

GameStop shares were down nearly 4%, to 28.80, at the close on the stock market today. GameStop stock meeting a nearly three-year low of 24.33 in January on issues that the shift to the digital distribution of video games was deteriorating its core business design of selling games on physical media.

GameStop made 66 cents a share excluding products on sales of $1.97 billion in the quarter ended April 30. Sales remained in line with views, but EPS topped analysts’ estimates by 4 cents. On a year-over-year basis, profits per share fell 3% and sales fell 4%.

Majority of older mobile phone users

While close to 99 percent of senior citizens aged 65 and older in the United States and Europe use cellphones, there seems a "gray divide" in how elders use information and interaction innovation, according to a Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (BGU) study.

In "The Hierarchy of Mobile Phone Incorporation among Older Users" published in Mobile Media & Communication, BGU Professor Galit Nimrod concludes that the majority of older mobile phone users "stagnate in a phase of limited use. Only a minority-- usually more youthful, greater earnings and more educated elders-- access a broader variety of functions. Comprehending community understanding

Masazane indicates learning more about each other in isiZulu. It s a fitting name for the project that is allowing just that: a better relationship between a mine and its local community, powered by innovation.

The Masazane Project trialed the effectiveness of mobile phone innovation as a tool to successfully engage with communities on an actual time basis. The 12-month pilot has been running for a number of months and community perceptions of the mine are offered on a real-time basis.

The project sought to acquire community members views on the mine s impacts both positive (ie work) and unfavorable (ie environmental) the quality of the relationship between the mine and the neighborhoods, and the extent to which neighborhoods trust and accept the operation.
